This subseries documents "Arman 1955-1991: A Retrospective," exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston from November 17, 1991 to January 19, 1992. The exhibition was organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and curated by Alison de Lima Greene, then Associate Curator of 20th-Century art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This was the first retrospective exhibition in the United States of Arman's work since 1974. Records include exhibition files from the Office of the Registrar, the Curatorial Department and the Office of the Director. The files include: checklists, condition reports and notes; correspondence, including curatorial correspondence with Arman and his archivist; installation notes; lender files; plot plans; press releases and clippings; research files; shipping records; and material related to the traveling exhibition, including venue files of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Brooklyn Museum.
